Huli Huli Stuf

 

 

FOR BARBECUED CHICKEN

 

6  half chickens (about 1 lb each half 1 cup HULI HULI sauce

 

For 6 half chickens, cut from three 2 pound size chickens.

Sprinkle salt over chciken, let stand 6 hours or more.

Cook under broiler, bake in high heat oven or charcoal broil for

about 40 minutes -- keep turning to prevent buring, basting every

ten minutes or with with Huli Huli sauce

 

FOR BAKED CHICKEN THIGHS OR WINGS

 

3 lbs. chicken thighs or wings 1 cup HULI-HULI sauce

 

Lightly brown chicken in skillet. Place browned parts skin side down,

very important in a shallow baking pan, pour Huli-Huli sause over chicken,

cover pan. Cook 40 minutes in a 170 C.degree oven -- Remove cover

from pan, turn chicken pieces over, cook for an additional 20 minutes.

 

FOR PORK SPARE RIBS

 

3 lbs slab pork ribs 1 cup HULI HULI Sauce

 

Sprinkle pork ribs liberallu with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

Let stand for at least four hours. Broil or bake in 170C. degree oven

for about 45 minutes, basting with Huli Huli sauce every ten minutes. 

 

TERIYAKI STYLE BEEF STEAK

 

3 lbs tender meat 1 cup HULI HULI Sauce

 

Cut meat to serving size steaks. Marinade in Huli Huli sauce

for at least four hours, turning meat every hour. Broil or pan fry

to desired taste. (appx. 8 minutes cooking time maximum.)

 

HULI HULI STIR FRY CHICKEN

 

1/2 lb boneless chicken 1 medium onion

1 green or red medium bell pepper 1/4 lb mushrooms, raw, sliced

1/3 cup HULI HULI Sauce 2 teaspoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons cooking oil 

Cut chciken into thin strips 2" long 1/2" wide.

Slice all vegetables. Saute chicken in open pan in oil

medium to high heat for 2 minutes. Add vegetables,

cook 3 minutes more. Add Huli Huli sauce and cornstarch;

stir well. Cook 2 minutes more, remove from fire. Serve

immediiately with steamed white rice.

NOTE: Saem recipe great with other meats or vegetables.

 

HULI HULI BURGERS

 

2 lbs ground meat 1/2 ground pepper

1 clove garlic, crushed  2 tablespoons sherry or wine

1/3 cup Huli Huli sauce 

Mix all ingredients into patties, broil or fry.

 

NIITSUKE STYLE HULI HULI FISH (or Chicken)

 

1/2 cup HULI HULI Sauce 1 cup water

1 lb boneless fish or chicken 

Place sauce and water in small open sauce pan.

Bring to boil; a fish. Cook 4 minutes. Remove

from pan. Ready to serve. (Vegetables may

be cooked in remaining juice after cooked fish or

chicken is removed from pan.)

 

HULI HULI LEMON BROILED FISH

 

1- 1/2 lb fish fillets 1 tablespoon salt

Sauce:

 

1/2 cup Huli Huli sauce 3 tablespoons Sake or white wine

2 tablespoons lemon juice 

Sprinklle fish with salt. Broil in preheated oven 3 to 4 inches

from flame. Cook about 4 minutes each side. Serve with Sauce as a "dip".

 

HULI HULI SALAD DRESSING

 

1/4 cup olive or salad oil 1 clove garlic, pressed

1/3 teaspoon Dijon mustard 1/4 cup Huli Huli sauce

1/4 teaspoon black pepper 

Place all ingredients in a jar. Shake well and use.

Best when used as dressing in any salads of greens,

vegetables or in rice or tofu salad mixtures. Will keep refrigerated.

 

HULI HULI TUNA -TOFU SALAD

 

21 block tofu 1 can 6-1/2 oz tuna

1/4 head lettuce 1/2 medium onion, finely sliced

1 small tomato, wedged 2 sprigs green onion, chopped

Drain tofu and cut into 1-inch cubes. Arrange lettuce on platter;

place onion slices on top of tofu. Drain tuna and crumble over tofu;

arrange the tomoto wedges and sprinke on green  onions.

Pour Huli Huli salad dressing (see recipe below)  over salad platter.

Stir well before adding to salad

 

CALAMARI HULI HULI

 

2 lbs cleaned calamari, cut in 2 inch strips 1 clove garlic, crushed

1 cup sliced onion 2 tablespoons cooking oil

1/2 cup Huli Huli sauce 

Heat oil in skillet. Add garlic , onion and calamari. Cook,

stirring 3 minutes. Add Huli Huli sauce. Simmer 30 minutes

or until done. Makes 4 to 6 servings
